All
modern teachers and schools recognize the fact
that no definitely prescribed course of study in
the art of music can be set down for all
students. To do this is possible only in the
more strictly scientific branches of the peculiar
requirements of the individual. Therefore,
we give only a brief outline of the work required
of candidates for our teachers' certificates and
diplomas.
The courses in all
departments of music are pursued in accordance
with the most modern progressive principles, as
exemplified by the the world's leading
pedagogues. They are so adapted as to equip
students for the careers both as soloists and
teachers. In each of these fields of study
the student's personality and individuality are
strengthened and developed. Distinctiveness
of conception and performance are always
emphasized. In order to give the greatest
freedom in the training of each pupil according to
his special needs, no prescribed methods of
presentation are pursued. Each student is
taught individually according to his physical
requirements, mental capacity and emotional
nature.
In
addition to the principal courses in piano,
singing, violin, violoncello, expression and
public speaking, adequate courses are also offered
in all orchestral instruments, harmony,
counterpoint, history of music, public school
music and modern languages.
