After
you have completed your work in the motor and self-starting departments
and have had your training and practice in welding, brazing, vulcanizing,
babbitting, etc., then you are given practice and experience in my big
repair shops.
In the picture above you will wee students
overhauling and rebuilding cars which are brought in here for this
purpose. In here are Wintons, Appersons, and in fact, almost every
kind and type and size of car you can think of, and the students are doing
this practical work, under the care of experts who teach them how to make
every repair in the shortest time and do it correctly.
An evidence of the confidence which the big automobile
dealers in this territory have in me and my school, is the big number of
cars which are constantly sent here for overhauling and rebuilding.
These dealers, during the busy season, take in many
second-hand cars in trades and before they put them on the market to sell,
they send them here for overhauling and rebuilding.
My students are taught how to tear a car down,
how to locate troubles, how to determine which parts are worn out and
which parts simply need a little repairing to put them in first-class
condition.
After making the repairs, they are taught how to
assemble the cars, how to adjust the carburetor, wire up the starting
devices, install the lighting device, test it out and see that it is
running properly, put on the hood and make the car run.
More than this, they are taught how to rebuild
this car in such a way the owner will get the greatest amount of power on
the least expenditure of gas and oil. |
Then, these cars are sent away and other ones
brought in. In this way you get actual practice and experience such
as you can get no other way.
It would seem as though almost anybody who knew
very much about automobiles could tear a car down, but in this department
as in all others, you are taught how to do things systematically.
When cars are torn down they are torn down in a
certain definite way. Each part is placed in a certain place and you
are taught just why this is done so that when you begin to reassemble your
car, every part which is used in the reassembling is just where it
belongs.
You can thus see why garage owners and managers
are always glad to employ Rahe graduates. It is that all-around,
definite knowledge of what to do and how to do it that makes Rahe
graduates in constant demand. Lots of shop experience under the
direction of numerous master mechanic instructors is what does it.
Every detail of your work is so firmly impressed on your mind when you go
out from the Rahe school, that it is no trouble to make good from the
minute you take a position.
In fact a great many of my students feel
competent even before we are satisfied to give them their diploma.
My instructors keep a careful record of what every man is doing anywhere
he shows marked ability in certain lines, advise him to specialize in that
department. Our long experience in doing this work enables us to
recognize special ability very quickly. This is just another reason
why Rahe graduates never cease to be thankful that they came here
for their training. |
