Off from the
main
corridor again, as you walk along on the right is
the Egyptian Room. It is used as a cafe and is
designed to carry the diner back to the Egyptian
period; the entire design and decorative scheme is
carried out in the Egyptian style and in a most
unique way. There are Egyptian columns, pilasters,
vases, all richly carved with the hieroglyphics of
ancient Egypt. The hieroglyphics are inscribed and
cut into the walls with tool instruments and
afterwards picked out in color by the artists.
The fixtures are purely
Egyptian in character, and in fact the whole room
depicts so little of American effect that it carries
one back to Egypt and creates food for the mind of
the diner while he is being ministered to the
wants of his inner man. |
