Samuel Eppstein was born at New York City July 6,
1862. At the age of seven he went to Milwaukee, where he was
educated. At the Spencerian College at Milwaukee he became an
accountant. In 1879 he came to Kansas City and worked for a
wholesale clothing company, finally becoming its credit and
confidential man. Fourteen years ago he started as an
accountant, and was county accountant in 1895-96. The law firm
of Neal & Eppstein was organized in 1898.
Mr. Eppstein was one of the founders of the
Home Cooperative Company, which was started at Kansas City, May 11,
1901, and was the first successful company of its kind in the
West. In 1887 Mr. Eppstein was married to Miss Isabel V.
Goldsmith at Lexington, Ky.
