William T. Reed, senior member of the law firm of Reed
& Reed, was born near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, April 4,
1864. When he was still a child of four his father went to
Kansas, living first at Ottawa and then at Newton.
Mr. Reed was graduated from the State
University of Kansas with the class of '88, was admitted to the bar
the following year, and practiced first at Newton. But this was
too small a town to hold a man of Mr. Reed's abilities. In
January, 1890, seeking a wider field, he moved to Kansas City Kas.,
where his brother and he built up a splendid reputation for the firm
of Reed & Reed. After five years across the river the firm
was moved to Kansas City, Mo.
Mr. Reed was married in April, 1892, to Miss
Grace Peterson, of Akron, O. There are two children, Marian and
Grace.
Mr. Reed recently attracted attention to his
firm by an attack upon the packers' combine, a case that is still
pending in the court.
